About our PROGRAMS
At Women 4 STEM, we pride ourselves on creating programs that inform and support women right from school age all the way to the top. We want to ensure your enthusiasm for STEM is encouraged, nurtured and passed along to the next generation of women through events and programs structured to help at each stage in your journey.
Despite 70% growth of ICT jobs since 1996, women account for only 16% of ICT roles.
The Women 4 STEM Network is an industry-driven initiative which aims to facilitate entry, retention and progression for women working in STEM.

“I 100% now believe that there’s a place for me in the IT industry.”
– GILMORE COLLEGE FOR GIRLS
Go Girl, Go for IT has been successfully introducing girls from year 5 to 12 to the world of technology and enthusing them about a career and education in IT. Achieving a record number of over 1400 girls in 2014 from over 42 Victorian schools, we run this truly unique event every two years. Currently hosted at Deakin University, Go Girl, Go for IT is designed like an innovative trade fair, with sponsors from many industries and businesses running interactive workshops and stands to showcase the vast opportunities available within the IT industry.

– UNIVERSITY ATTENDEES
Transitioning from university into a career in STEM can be tricky and historically the industry has lost women into other careers at this point. Grad Girls is an award winning 1-year program for female tertiary STEM students to discover and understand the pathways available when taking the first step in their career. Whether it’s directly into the tech industry, a startup, the small business world, or into a research or academic role. We provide our participants with the opportunity to build their network in the tech industry while they are still studying which helps create a lifelong support network.
Grad Girls runs on the academic year with monthly sessions from February to October. The program includes
• Office tours and educational presentations on sponsor contributions to the tech industry
• Guidance and mentoring in creating a personal brand, writing your first CV and LinkedIn profiles
• Support on making the choice between industry and academia and understanding how to navigate staying relevant in both
• Networking opportunities
• Career related prizes throughout the year and some major prizes at the end of program graduation
This program is FREE and open to all university and TAFE STEM female students who are interested in embarking interested in a STEM career.

IMPORTANCE OF WOMEN
A series of breakfast events where guest speakers talk about latest technology, their careers in IT and what they have learnt. Held monthly they offer the opportunity to network informally as well as be inspired by leaders in our industry.
WHAT’S HOT IN TECH
An interactive event showcasing emerging technologies and industry trends in a friendly and informative atmosphere. Using a ‘round table’ format, these events feature a panel of technology specialists leading discussions and providing insights into their area of expertise.
An evening of networking and discussion to connect with technology leaders who are disrupting the way we live, work, interact and transact through technology innovation. Attendees will meet leaders from start-ups to large enterprises who are creating the technologies and championing opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship.
“I’ve found the Mentor(SHE:) Program to be incredibly valuable. It’s had a definite impact on my career (I’ve gone up a role grade and am leading BAs on projects now, which I credit in part to the skills I’ve developed during my mentoring year), and to my personal life. I’ve learned to take control of my career and have developed a lot more confidence in my dealings with people in general.”
